Frequently Asked Questions

What is Kanna?

Kanna (Sceletium tortuosum) is a succulent plant native to South Africa, traditionally used by the Khoisan people for its heart-opening, calming, and mood-enhancing effects. It is a gentle psychoactive that supports emotional awareness, presence, and connection.

What does Kanna do?

Kanna can help regulate mood, ease anxiety, enhance emotional openness, and foster a deepened connection to self and others. It is often described as uplifting, grounding, and subtly euphoric—making it a powerful ally for inner work, integration, and conscious connection.

Is Kanna legal?

Yes

Will Kanna make me feel “high”?

Kanna is not a psychedelic in the traditional sense. Its effects are subtle and heart-centered—more like a soft expansion than an altered state. Many people describe it as a calm, embodied sense of presence and emotional ease.

Do you work with other plants besides Kanna?

Yes. In addition to Kanna, I work with cacao and kava—two heart-opening, grounding plants that support emotional connection, nervous system regulation, and gentle expansion.

Cacao is a sacred plant traditionally used in Central and South American cultures for ceremony, heart-opening, and community connection. It pairs beautifully with intention-setting, breathwork, and creative expression.

Kava, a root native to the South Pacific, has been used for centuries to promote calm, ease social anxiety, and support deep presence. It offers a soothing, embodied state—relaxing without sedating, and clarifying without overstimulating.

Each of these plants serves a unique purpose, and I work with them in respectful, intentional ways—guided by both their traditional roots and modern-day relevance.

Soon, I’ll also be offering guided psilocybin journeys for those called to deeper transformation. I’m currently completing my training with InnerTrek and will be among the first licensed facilitators in Colorado.
